I hart getting older

I spent turning twenty-three...
with my closest friends at our favourite mexican restaurant. The sweet and cheap joint... Baja Cantina in Glebe...
chugging down litres of Sangria, feasting on fajitas and burritos, finishing off with the  'mousse van goh' cake from la renaissance...

(french connection dress, oroton clutch, diva ring)
...
Licking sweet bbq sauce off my fingers, wearing a bib like a baby and devouring buffalo wings and ribs at ribs and rump with friends... oh we even got our own room... and the tennis was on :) something for the boys...

(outfit: from the markets)

...
gushing over the beautiful presents and feeling bessed because of all the effort people put in to celebrate with me...

My spoilt bitch bounty...

Thankyou to everyone that came. I loved everything- the trip to Melbourne, the beautiful dresses, the food, the laughs, making up for lost time, bitching like there is no tomorrow and just seeing everyone again makes my cheeks roseyy...

Koko Black Melbourne

I promise, this is my last Melbourne post. If you like me are not a natural Melbourne dweller- know nothing about the place (besides the glory of Chapel and Brunswick street *or so you've heard) and find yourself having to go for a short weekend away, then you have to check out KOKO BLACK.

Divine Ice Chocolate

Although the Belgium platter for two was a tad too sweet for my pallete... the chocolate mousse is an absolute must!

Not to mention, the little tid-bits that come with it =)

For around $25.00 you will find your sweet tooth more than satisfied and the place is just as beautiful. I would call it Melbourne's answer to Max Brenner- though they have that too...

P.s. Take a look at the chocolate/sweet martini range, i really regret not trying one

The Eye's Have It!

For my special birthday celebration I decided to spice up my make up routine by bringing the Tokyo lash bar to my bathroom.

Having purchased an amazing new set of  synthetic mink “Luxe; False lashes in black” from Shu Uemura [David Jones; Elizabeth Street Sydney] these were to be my new accessory for the evening.
The criss-crossed design of these Luxe Lashes provides more of thicker volume at the roots, it tapers at the tip for luscious-looking lashes with a defined eyeline.

As I sat perched up on the basin, my face centimetres away from the mirror, it was really evident to me through my experiment why many of my friends found it hard to apply on themselves.

I can put these luscious lashes on a client within seconds, but when it came to applying them myself, I felt the need to provide some tips and tricks of the trade.

Things you will need:

-Ardell; Waterproof Lash Grip, Eyelash Adhesive (if using a cheaper pair of false eyelashes, they usually come with a little vial of glue - this stuff doesn't work) Get your hands on this professional lash glue, it will last you several applications.

-Shu Uemura Eye Lash Curler (I purchased the gold plated ones for myself for xmas) previously hooked on the Napoleon Eye Lash Curler - but this one REALLY is an eye opener, ha!

- Tweezers, (loving Tweezerman slant tweezers in a cute travel size)

Oh, and your choice of strip lashes- Duh! The better the quality, the easier they are to mould onto your lash line. I find the cheaper quality either bounce off or don’t last more than two uses.

See the image I created, its quite simple...

1. Use the tweezers to hold onto the tip of the strip lash. Using the lash glue, spread the glue no thicker or thinner than the width of the strip, from one end right to the end. If this is too tricky, use a cotton bud to spread the glue onto the strip.  The glue goes on dry, so you can see where you are putting it, don't be afraid it will dry clear!

2. Using the tweezers position the lashes onto your lash line (AFTER you have put mascara and liquid eyeliner on) keeping your eyes looking down (not closed; or else you wont see what you are doing) hold them on each side gently pressing down so that the adhesive dries into place.

3. Do the other eye. The Key is to place the base of the strip onto your upper lash line, and not onto the skin as this can look very fake.

4. Open your eyes, separating any glue and applying pressure to areas that needs to be glued.

5. Bat your eyelids and away we go!

You will find that sometimes the glue may travel down to your lower lash line while you have them closed, and stick your lower lashes to your top, not to worry it wont sting your eye or anything, all you need is to open your eye and using the tweezers separate the glue to open your eyes. <- This sounds crazy but its as easy as i could explain it. It only usually happens to the lash 2 or 3 lashes and is not at all painful. However.... if you used superglue.... hmm.

If the lash glue is still white and hasn’t dried within 5 minutes, then you may have put too much glue, easily fixed - use a black liquid liner to paint in the white areas :)

Peeling them off at the end of the night, this can get messy especially after a big night. Tug very carefully so you get the feel of the fake lashes as opposed to ripping off your real lashes.  The glue will seperate and they will pull off fairly easy. You will have excess of the dried glue still on the lashes, please treat your lashes with care - wash the dried glue off with warm soapy water and let dry. I also found that the Shu Uemura Cleaning oil dissolves the adhesive a treat - Ready to use for next weekend!

I almost wish my name was Lisa so I could say,  ex oh ex oh, Love, Lisa Lashes
Until next time have fun at your own lash bar :)

Kit Kat Wedges

shoes - Zu, dress - Living Doll, ears - random bargain shop in Crows Nest

I thought about these shoes for about a month then had to order them in from Zu... i waited 3 weeks and finally got the call to pick them up!

Affordability: 3/5 - i paid $120 for these babies so they were reasonably priced

Comfort: 4/5 - i wore these literally for the whole day - the only downside is that the peep at the toes is a little too wide and your toes start to slide through and rub causing a few unpleasant blisters to form

Wearability: 3.5/5 - if you're into the punky edgy look, these are perfect and can be teamed up with almost any ensemble to give you that added edge like Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs!
I got away with wearing these at the office teamed up with some wet look leggings, my favourite sass&bide skull tank and a light pink boyfriend blazer i got for $60 from portmans ;)
i'll post these pics up soon xx

NYE 2010 xo

This is 6 days late... because i just uploaded the darling photos from my digicam. I spent NYE 2010, in a beautiful apartment making shots, cocktails and celebrating with friends. Five minutes from midnight we watched the fireworks on a lonely hill, even though the fireworks looked like twinkle stars bursting far away- we were too happy to care. My NYE consisted off...

QF's, toblerones, tequila roulette.... the list goes on...

Tipsy twister anyone?

On the way to the hill... (dress portmans)

Picnic and the MCA

Hi Lovelies,

So as planned I got to visit the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) as well as have a little picnic with my bf around The Rocks area of my lovely Sydney.

We decided that we'd pay the extra admission fee and check out the exhibition 'Take Your Time' by Olafur Eliasson (check out the official site: http://eliasson.com.au/). Eliasson's light installations are amazing!  Although some pieces I really don't understand the somewhat depth and meaning that may have been the key message or motivation behind each piece - I honestly could appreciate the time and effort he devoted to each work, the engineering and physics involved in creating the installation just amazes you and your conception of art is altered completely.

My favourite piece from the exhibition...

Happy New Year xXx

A huge Happy New Year to everyone!

Although this year we weren't in the partying mood to kick off 2010
 - due to lack of planning and a few other priorities hitting out timid shores -
we hope that everyone had a banging new year and a fabulous christmas!

I haven't really thought of a new years resolution yet?
I think I might stick to the same old...
1. look after my health
2. control my spending
3. study hard and get a nice distinction average
4. stay fabulous

What's your new years resolution for 2010??

anyways...

i heart Kaya Scodelario
if you watch Skins - you'll know what i'm harping on about...
